The church began in 1977 when a group of local Christians wanted to see a church with a clear commitment to the teaching of the Bible, worship and evangelism. It acquired the former Co-op Building at 139 Bradford Road. A pastor was called in 1980 and a full-time ministry has been in place since 1988. After a few years of holding Sunday services in Waring Green Community Centre, from January 2010 services have been held in Brighouse Civic Hall. Over all those years the church has maintained additional activities at Bradford Road for mothers and toddlers, children and young people and other community events and ventures.
BEC holds to historic Christianity and a statement of its core beliefs is that of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches see: Click here >
